Dear Readers,
My name is Chunming Wang, and I am a citizen of the People’s Republic of China. Since 2019, I have invested in a number of business entities in the continental United States and the State of Hawaii, including factories, financial investments, securities, U.S. Treasury bonds, as well as multiple commercial and fast-food projects on the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai, Big Island, and Oahu. On Oahu, I also participated in several urban renewal projects. In particular, during the three years from 2020 to 2023, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, to maintain the stability and safety of local communities, I reduced rents and waived portions of rent for many tenants. As a result, my tax-related income alone was reduced by more than three million dollars.

These efforts made a significant contribution to maintaining the safety and stability of communities across three Hawaiian Islands. All the funds my shareholders and I transferred to the United States came from lawful, clean, after-tax personal funds. Through the six companies in which we invested in the United States, according to the information maintained by my accountant and me, from 2020 through 2025, we have paid at least 26 million U.S. dollars in taxes to the federal government and various state governments. I fully understand that paying taxes in the United States is an obligation. However, I also believe that where there is an obligation, there must also be rights, and everyone should be protected under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Dear readers, we should all understand that America does not belong only to those who are currently registered as Americans. America should also belong to those who step forward to help the country in times of difficulty, who contribute to building America, who love America, and who make significant contributions to its economy. Only by receiving the support of outstanding people from around the world who love America and help build America can the banner of a truly prosperous and strong America be displayed before the people of the world under the principles of truth, justice, humanity, human rights, and respect for human dignity. Only then can America truly be made great again.
I came to America to express my gratitude, to help America, and to promote its economic development. I never imagined that on June 2, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Hawaii would use fraudulent and deceptive means to unlawfully arrest and detain me. As of today, I have been detained for 416 days. During these 416 days, I have endured numerous humiliations to my personal dignity, as well as physical and psychological suffering. After 17 immigration hearings, during which no wrongdoing on my part was found, the Immigration Judge exercised unlimited discretionary authority to deny my lawful and legitimate requests.
I ask all readers to watch the video recordings of these 17 immigration hearings and review the Immigration Judge's Decision and Order dated June 3, 2026. In my opinion, that decision completely reverses right and wrong. I respectfully ask everyone to comment on these facts. If you truly love America, I believe you should pay attention to this matter.
The video recordings are publicly available through the Immigration Court. I am now presenting to everyone what I consider to be the fabricated decision dated June 3, 2026. Please read it and consider how a document that, in my opinion, lacks humanity and compassion could appear in an official government record. I believe that the foremost responsibility of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security today should be protecting America's economic security, because without economic security there can be no homeland security. I welcome everyone’s comments and constructive criticism regarding my views.

“For democracy, I would give my life! For freedom, I would shed my blood! For constitutional government, I would devote my heart and soul!"
— Chunming Wang, handwritten from his cell at FDC Hawai'i
What Happened
The Deceptive Arrest
The "Arriving Alien" Loophole
Fighting for Due Process
On June 2, 2025, Mr. Wang arrived for a scheduled meeting with immigration officials. Unbeknownst to him, authorities had denied his residency application just days prior on May 30 and placed the notice in the mail. Instead of a routine meeting, he was taken into custody and has not been free since. He is 77 years old, battling brain cancer, and has now spent over 400 days in detention.
Mr. Wang came to Hawaiʻi as a major investor, contributing millions to local properties and public school philanthropy. He is a public advocate for democracy, freedom, and constitutional government. He believes his prolonged detention is unjust, and he is calling on the public, human rights advocates, and U.S. officials to examine how a person can be held this long while maintaining his innocence and his right to due process.
April 28, 2026 — After 17 immigration court hearings, Immigration Court and DHS found no evidence was presented to support any allegation against him or identify any wrongdoing. Nevertheless, the Immigration Judge denied his Form I-485 Application for Adjustment of Status as a matter of discretion.
Mr. Wang did not enter the country unlawfully. In 2020, he traveled outside the U.S. and returned legally using a government-approved travel document known as Advance Parole. Because of that travel document, the government technically classified him as an “arriving alien” upon his residency denial. Under U.S. immigration regulations, this status subjects him to mandatory detention, stripping the Federal Court of its jurisdiction to grant him a basic bond hearing. He remains trapped indefinitely without the right to post bail.

The Case at a Glance
May 30, 2025 — USCIS denies his residency (I-485) application.
June 2, 2025 — ICE agents arrest Mr. Wang at a scheduled immigration meeting.
June 18, 2025 — Placed in high-security segregation for 19 days following a verbal conflict regarding his medical care and sudden detention.
July 16, 2025 — The Federal District Court dismisses his Habeas Corpus petition, ruling that the "arriving alien" loophole legally deprives the court of jurisdiction to grant bond.
June 2026 — Marking over 13 months of detention, Mr. Wang submits an official Sincere Letter of Apology to the court, pledging his life to Hawaii's urban redevelopment if released.
